Track and Field Results ASEAN University Games 2012

>> December 17, 2012

16th ASEAN University Games 2012, Vientiane Laos. Track and Field Athletics Results Day 2 (16 December 2012); Day 1 here

MEN
200m (16), 0.0
1. Heru Asriyanto INA 21.67
2. Somchai Kittisuntornrak THA 21.68
3. Kannan s/o Subramaniam MAS 21.81
4. Lee Cheng Wei SIN 21.96
5. Muhammad Amirudin Jamal SIN 22.01
6. Mohd Azhar Mohd Ismail MAS 22.27
7. Tran Thanh Trung VIE 22.64
8. Kitavanh Kountavong LAO 22.77
note: at the first 100m, Kannan was leading, but Heru whose 400m pb 47.27 set this year came very strongly in the last 60m and finished first for a gold medal after he lost in his pet event 400m yesterday. Final surge by Somchai was 'too late' but it was good enough for silver medal.

800m (16)
1. Duong Van Thai VIE 1:54.23
2. Mohd Jironi Riduan MAS 1:54.58
3. Neri Elbren PHI 1:57.00
4. Soh Hua Qun SIN 1:57.59
5. Saarvin s/o Cinathamby MAS 1:58.85
6. Ridwan INA 2:01.55
7. Vongsavang Vongsy LAO 2:05.22
8. Jakkrit Pattasai THA 2:05.56
9. Chittavong Phaisankon LAO 2:07.06
10. Samuel Marcal Dos Santos TLS 2:13.62
note: slow pace in the first 400m (58+, except Ridwan who seems to act as  'rabbit' with his very fast first lap, but this move did not influence to a faster time in the race. SEA Games gold medalist Van Thai broke the 'group' in the last 200m which subsequently followed by Jironi the defending champion. Jironi was trying hard and gave it all but Van Thai managed to hold on until the line and earn the gold

3000m Steeplechase (16)
1. Ahmad Luth Hamizan MAS 9:22.47
2. Sanchai Namkhet THA 9:25.66
3. Christopher Ulboc Jr PHI 9:31.48

8. Roger Denolo PHI 10:15.77
9. Colin Tung Zhi Shing SIN 10:32.41
10. Bountom LAO 10:44.86
note: Namkhet was leading for almost the entire race, but youngster Luth has a 'bigger tank' or the capacity for his final speed, thus he took the gold from Namkhet with a new pb.

110m hurdles (16), +0.9
1. Mohamad Rohaizad Jamil MAS 14.37
2. Patrick Sacro Unso PHI 14.49 NR
3. Nguyen Ngoc Quang VIE 14.53
4. Ranousone Xaysa LAO 14.62 NR
5. Sulisak Silisavatdimao LAO 15.93
note: Rohaizad was the winner from the start to finish and his time (14.37) was short only two hundredths of a second to his pb 14.35 set in Bangkok this year. Major threat came only from Patrick  who had a fast finishing to break Filipino NR. Xaysa also broke NR and became the first Laotian to break 15s in 110mh.

High Jump (16)
1. Navin Raj s/o Subramaniam MAS 2.15
2. Dao Xuan Thuy VIE 2.15
3. Andre Dermanwan INA 2.03
4. Janry Ubas PHI 1.97
