Noraseela Khalid 400mh 57.41s SEA Games Champion

Malaysia's Noraseela Mohd Khalid produced a wonderful run to win the women's 400mh at the 26th SEA Games in Palembang. She clocked a time of 57.41s to beat the 2007 champion Wassana Winatho of Thailand (58.97s) in silver medal position. Winatho is on the mission to hunt her 10th gold medal in SEA Games. She currently has nine and is expected to win the Heptathlon tonight. Bronze medal was grabbed by Indonesia's Viera Mellisa Hethrie (59.64s). All winners recorded their season bests.
Seela, 32, whose best time is 56.02s (2006), and already won three editions of SEA Games + medal in Asian championships, previously had to "reduce" her workouts (September) due to an injury. She then spent 6 solid weeks with her coach Hennie Krival at South Africa to prepare for SEA Games, that was after underwent self-training for almost the entire season.

Meanwhile, Vietnam's Dao Xuan Cuong took the gold in men's category after shattering the 10-year-old national record (51.56s - Nguyen Bao Hui) with a 51.45s, beating Thailand's Narongdech Janjai who close in second (51.60s - PB), and Indonesia's Andrian in third place (51.70s PB). Another sub-52 finisher was the Philippines' Junrey Bano who also bettered his personal best to 51.75s.
