Noor Amira Breaks National Triple Jump Record 13.90m at Malaysia Open 2012

>> October 06, 2012

National triple jumper, Noor Amira Mohamad Nafiah has broken the Malaysian national record at Triple Jump during the 89th Malaysia Open and National Athletics Championships at Bukit Jalil Training Track, Kuala Lumpur this morning (6 October 2012).

The 23-year-old whose personal record 100m is 11.72s has registered 13.90m (+0.1) in her last (4th) attempt (only 3 or 4 participants) to eclipse Ngew Sin Mei's 8-year-old national record, 13.74m (set in the same champs in 2004).

She made an opening jump or her NR attempt by a good leap in the first jump but the red flag given indicated a foul jump. Her second attempt was 13.68m, only 4cm short to her season (and personal) best, 13.72m, set a week ago during the Malaysian Armed Forces meeting at Sri Manjung.

Her third jump was 13.44m, where the UPM student seems to walk with a limp after the jump. But she gave it all in the final attempt, with joy and satisfaction, then celebrating her new national record, as you see in the video;
